While I work on my upcoming posts that I have planned, I thought I would share an amazing resource that I found to feed my sweet tooth. Chocolate Covered Katie provides you with the most mouth watering, delicious, ridiculous, and HEALTHY recipes for desserts. I’m all about eating clean, and nourishing my body, but I have to practice a lot of self control when it comes to a certain brown substance that causes heartache and tears to fall all over the world..oh wait, never mind, it doesn’t cause those things, it fixes them! I love CHOCOLATE. I love it oh, so much, yet I avoided it for the majority of my pregnancy because I was avoiding any and all sorts of stimulants (we were kind of vaguely following up on a case study that we had done on ADD and ADHD forming early on in life, and maybe even during pregnancy, led by poor maternal diets, and ingestion of stimulants and artificial dyes/preservatives, and seeing as I couldn’t control the genetic attributes of it with my husband having quite severe ADHD in his youth, I ventured to try to manipulate the only factors that I could control.) Anyways, I had nutritional tunnel vision, and only wanted the good stuff for my little fetus. That was until we went to the beach for a little getaway, and I saw a deluxe triple chocolate brownie on the menu. I totally choked that day. It was the best thing ever. I promised my little brother a bite, but I forgot this fact when I entered my chocolate coma, until he subtly reminded me with a sly little pat on the back and earnest eyes. Poor guy. When I look back at my pre-baby sleep, I fondly remember this night, because I ended up in the most amazing slumber one could ever wish for. I bet it’s because I was happy. Happily full of chocolate. The moral of this story is that while watching what we put in our mouths we should also watch how our food choices make us feel. If we really want to eat something, we can most likely find a way to make it healthier so that feeding our happiness (this is totally a thing-I promise) doesn’t turn into a wasteland of horrible choices. Healthy choices can totally lead to happy bellies. You just have to know the right way to go about it. Visit Katie’s site, so that you can have your cake and eat it too!
