bella (belle belle), bad bad, KK, Jo-Jo, Rhett, bye, hey, hattie, outside, and there are probably others….she signs the word “more” all the time.
The past two months have been such a busy time for our baby girl. I have said it before, but once they hit their first birthday, they hit milestones like crazy people! She picks up on things SO FAST it’s scary. She is listening even you don’t think she is and knows when you are wrapping up a conversation with someone and responds with a very loud, “BYE” that drips with the cutest little country accent you ever did hear. She has decided that she likes the television now, but mainly she means Frozen. She points to the TV and grunts, sometimes she says “To-Den” which means Frozen, and she will watch the entire show. She assumes a dozen or more positions to do so, and makes a cup of tea or two in the process, but she still is intrigued by the colors and the music and the snowman, it’s pretty cute.
She is one rough little monkey, and I try to teach her everyday to be gentle and ta-ta, or “be sweet”, but she just rips and throws, and tosses, and stomps. I wonder where she gets this from….
She loves to be outside and has a facination with june bugs for some reason…She will pick up a handful and stick them to her shirt, then yell for our attention to show us. If they don’t move when she picks them up, she will pick them apart, piece by piece (shudder). She still eats way too much stuff, but this is our current work in progress. Like chalk. And crayons. We have a hard time coloring things around here without rainbow teeth. She loves farm animals as well, and our kind neighbors gave her a farm house filled with animals and a tractor and she will spend quite some time imitating cows and puppy dogs with enthusiasm. She likes to be a big helper too, so if I’m sweeping, she will be tossing her toy golf putt to and fro (“sweeping”) or if I’m dusting, she likes to have her own rag, when cooking her own bowl and spoon on the floor, etc. She will say “bath” at night and climb on our tub and run the water. Yikes! This one scares me, and she gets in trouble for it since the hot water is closest to the side and is what she turns on first. Speaking of trouble….fussing at a toddler is so not fun. We can pop her hand until we’re running out of breath and she will just stare at us with the signature “that didn’t hurt” face that toddlers seem to have. I try to explain things to her in a mature and realistic way, such as “If you climb on this bench you could fall and hurt yourself and then you and Mama would both be very sad” rather than just fussing. She’s a fairly bright little egg so I reckon she understands me most of the time. She also blatantly just ignores me other times.
She still loves to read books but during the day she usually only makes it halfway through a book before she is up to choose another. Her favorites are still her Bizzy Bear books, and at night time she will sit through story after story as her eyes grow heavier and heavier. She still loves to accessorize, and EVERYTHING round is a bracelet or necklace. I mean everything. Every Sunday at church she steals my mom’s bracelet, and then attempts to take anyone who gets within arms reach’s jewelry as well.
At around 18 months she started to seem more interested in educational style play, so that has been really fun for me. I love coming up with new ways to stimulate her brain, even if just in short spurts. It’s crazy cool to watch a little person learn things for the first time, and I’m thoroughly enjoying all of this excitement as she grows way too fast!
I’ve realized more and more over the last few months that she is one loved little girl, you will see in the pictures below that a wide variety of people swoon over her adorableness. Ben and I joke and call our church and school community her “fans” because she just loves all of them, as they do her. Our priest carries her down the aisle with him on most Sundays and she waves to the congregation like she’s in her own private parade, then a multitude of people try to sneak her donuts during our social time following mass. Any community event brings the same attention. Many of the younger children will take her by the hand and drag her with them, doting over her time and time again.
Words are great, but pictures are what you came for, so I won’t hold you up anymore. Here is a bit of insight into our life over the past few months!
