I want to start a little series of simple posts sharing a bit of our favorite little store bought items. We can call it Merchandise Monday! I always love hearing from other mom’s what works and what doesn’t, and boy is there some junk to filter through! My item this week, is intended for baby, and will help you feel a little peace of mind when dining out with your tot. I can’t stand watching babies gnaw on shopping cart handles, Texas Roadhouse “table alert” buzzers (speaking from experience here…), restaurant tables, etc. This nifty little table mat has spared us the heartache of watching germs fill Hattie’s little mouth on countless occasions. It’s pretty awesome. Ben’s aunt handed it down to us after her youngest child refined his table skills enough to use a plate, and I’m so glad that she did! ( To be honest, I had no idea what it was when she gave it to me and almost shipped it out with my Goodwill bags).
It rolls up into this nice little tube shape, and fits anywhere in your car! (I keep a little basket in my trunk for an emergency stash of diapers/wipes, her highchair/shopping cart cover, and this mat, so that they stay organized and easy to grab). It even has a little “save it for later” catch tray that hangs over the table.
Right now, they are on sale at Toys R Us, and you can print your own coupon here to use in store, for 30% off! Only valid until 2/2/14, but you can find another coupon most of the time once this one expires, just sign up for their email list, or check back on their site. I can’t stand to pay shipping, and it would benefit you to not order it online at Toys R Us, because that shipping will eat your lunch, just put it on your to do list for when you are around a Toys R Us store in the future!
You may not dine out enough for this to benefit your little family, but it has saved us many times while on the go, it’s easy to clean, and I usually send Ben to the bathroom to wipe it down before we leave the restaurant (He occasionally asks, “Would it it okay if we cleaned it when we got home?” I can’t blame him though, I bet it’s totally emasculating to nod hello to a fellow patron at the urinal while you scrub broccoli off of a tiny diner’s mat :)) I hope this helps a few of you mommies and mommy to be’s. Happy Monday!
