I have always been one of those people who love to give presents. My insides scream “open it!!” at birthday parties, and I sincerely would be completely happy if I never received a gift for the rest of my life, and instead was allowed to watch other people’s expressions as they opened theirs. I’m usually pretty swell at choosing gifts as well, which makes my loved ones really stress about what to get me because for some odd reason, they think I will be disappointed in their choice. In reality however, I only hope that I can give them the kind of reaction that would make me go weak at the knees. To help you out with any “hers” you may have on your list, I have compiled a few go-to gifts in a wide price range that are sure to make any lovely ladies smile. Enjoy!
1. Silpat Mat
Have a little Betty Crocker on your list? She needs this. It’s what all of the food bloggers/TV chefs use, and for good reason. It’s a wonderful non-stick sheet that is reusable. They paid for themselves within a month here, because I literally used that much in parchment paper when baking. It’s woven glass covered with silicon. That’s pretty impressive.
I ordered this necklace for Hattie’s godmother, my sister-in-law, and also for my dear cousin last year, and I fell in love with both of their gifts (of course I had to order myself one too after seeing them). It is the most perfect little dainty gold circle (ours are 5/8″ diameter) and they have our initials on one side, and our sweet baby’s (and godchildren’s) initials on the other. The chain is also the perfect length, at 16″, you can request longer or shorter, and you can also order in silver. If you want the backside of the necklace engraved as well (the purchase price includes only one side of engraving) you must add this link to your cart before checking out. I seriously LOVE this necklace, and so do the people that I’ve gifted it to. It’s sweet and sentimental and affordable! It would be great for a mom, godmother, big sister, etc. Order by December 15th for Christmas Delivery, and the kind shop owner is offering all Joleigh Blonde readers 10% off of their purchase!! Use the code 10TODAY at checkout!
3. Clarisonic and Face Cleanser
I was always fascinated with the Clarisonic skin cleaner system and after my mother and father in law bought me one for Christmas last year, I know why! It’s a little spa in itself, that’s why! For the 1 minute that I cleanse my face at night, I close my eyes, and enjoy my little happy place! My skin is much smoother, and if I go a few days without using it, I can tell. It’s such a wonderful little gift to give to a special woman, so that she can be pampered every single day of the year! I recently began using this skin cleaner and I love it! It is so silky soft, and my complexion seems more even, with little to no blemishes. Giving these two gifts together will surely win some special lady’s heart.
4. Mindy Gledhill Music
My musical obsession for 2013 has been Mindy Gledhill. Her voice is similar to that of Sara Bareilles or Christina Perri. She is an indie folk singer, and I melt whenever I hear her sing. Seriously, even Hattie dances a little dance whenever I turn on her Pandora station. She sings a few wonderful religious songs too which makes me love her even better! If you still love to buy CD’s, you can find her albums here, here, here, here, and here. You can also gift her itunes album to someone through itunes on your computer. If you’ve ever heard your woman singing along to Colbie Caillait, she’ll love Mindy. Trust me.
I am a sucker for a great scarf. I always loved using them to accessorize, even in warmer weather, a light scarf can tie everything together, but whenever I made my first really cold weather trip, to Breckenridge, CO, I learned that scarves serve a much more useful purpose. Old Navy made a nice fluffy scarf this season that is amazing. The colors are selling out fairly quickly, so order in a hurry, or visit your local store to snatch one up. I have the scarf in hunter green, but unfortunately it is sold out online It is an infinity scarf, which I love, because you don’t have to worry about any loose ends! They’re on sale right now, which makes them even better if you ask me. Run, don’t walk and buy one now.
A good pair of boots is necessary for the cold winter months. Riding boots seem to be a safe fashion trend to follow, that’s practical and timeless. My Arturo Chiang boots are a wardrobe staple this time of year and I love them! They are such a classic way to approach the laid back style that these boots lend with a nice mix of brown shades. I wear mine comfortably for long stretches! On another note, I don’t know what I would do without my Uggs! In high school I owned a few different styles of “wanna be’s” since I didn’t want to spend all of my pennies on a fluffy pair of shoes, but when I finally chose quality over quantity (thanks Mom!) I was a goner. I’m an Uggs fan for life. I wear my Uggs in April just because they’re oh, so comfy. I’ve worn em’ in July before too. They are simple to wear, and so warm and comfortable. Even Hattie enjoys wearing her little baby Uggs (Why is everything cuter in mini sizes!?). Oh, and Nordstrom has free shipping and free returns. For everyone. Ca-Ching!
While we’re talking about boots, can we please talk about these? …………..Sorry,the southern belle in me had to pick up her jaw. So cute. So special. Such a great gift. Someone buy them please, I’m begging you. Send me a picture when you do! I may beat you all to it. I just can’t help myself.
Personalized cell phone cases are cute and chic for any girl or woman. You can’t possibly go wrong here, and a girl can never have too many cases. This case is not an Otterbox or Lifeproof case (it’s a little less intense…) but for a low risk kind of woman, it does the job. They are super affordable, but don’t look cheap when you receive them, plus they have a boatload of designs to choose from, offer cases for a variety of phones (not just apple), and are usually super fast! If you order this case, I would suggest ordering a screen protector as well. I like these. If you would rather a more resistant case, you can order a personalized Lifeproof or Otterbox here. They are a little more expensive and at this point in time, you would only be able to give the recipient an “I.O.U.” since they take a few weeks to make them.
9. Eye-Fi Card
For the compulsive picture taker in your life, be sure to check out Eye-Fi’s SD cards that allow your camera to upload pictures through a wireless network to your computer. How awesome is this, it’s like the iCloud for your camera! I know that I would just love to sit down at my desk and instantly have all of my pictures from the day at my fingertips. It’s genius. Technology never ceases to wow me. Amazon carries both the 8 gig and the 4 gig, depending on how picture happy your lady seems to be.
If your little lady is looking for a new scent this season, I highly recommend Flower Bomb. It smells divine, and it lingers amazingly well. I cannot stand spritzing on perfume only to have it disappear before I even reach my destination. I want to smell and be smelt dang it! Visit your local fine department store to smell for yourself, and then buy a bottle or two.
As easy as it is to become obsessed with consumerism during the holidays, it is often gratifying to pause and remember those who simply have nothing. Ben and I love to make donations to World Vision in lieu of gifts to certain people at certain times. The great thing about World Vision is that you can choose what sort of donation to give, and in what price range. You can donate to help raise hope for sexually exploited females, for a necessities kit for a new mom and her precious baby, to offer a business loan to a female entrepreneur, education, medicine, and much more. The wonderful thing about World Vision’s micro loans and business loans is that the recipient follows a payment plan to pay the foundation back once they are able (i.e. once their corn brings in a profit, or once the new chickens they purchased produce enough revenue). The loan is then given to another man or woman attempting to better their families, so it really is a gift that keeps on giving. For the woman on your list that has it all, make a donation in their honor. That is sure to bring a smile to their face.
Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.
I hope that you can get some fun ideas from this list, or that it inspires you to think outside of the box a little! Enjoy your Christmas shopping this year and be sure to take a break to enjoy some hot cocoa while you’re out and about, it’s one of the simple pleasures in life, to me at least. Stay tuned for a “Top picks For the Baby Girl”!
