Gosh it’s been a blogging eternity since I graced this page with regular posts. I forget how much I miss blogging until I take a hiatus! It’s sincerely a therapeutic outlet for me, and one of those “You have way too much time on your hands” things that I really need to carve out time for! As any mom of two knows though, life is a weeeeeee bit busier with two little bums running around. or crawling.
Do you like the facelift I gave the blog? It’s so fresh and mild and modern, and I love it. Kiarah at Kiarah’s Designs created my new graphic (swoon!!), while Kate at 17th Avenue Designs helped with the new blog template. I’m so in love! And ready to get back on my blogging train.
I thought it would be fun to kick off the look of the new blog with a simple post detailing all of our family’s latest fav’s. Things change so quickly, coming in our lives and leaving in the next moment, but bringing so much joy with them even during the shortest of visits. I’m becoming more and more aware of that as I read The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Maria Kondo. I keep getting more and more antsy about excess as I try to simplify our life, and realizing that some items are intended to spark joy for a short while and then be thankfully taken out of our life is perfectly okay. We don’t need every single book by our favorite author, or 52 coffee mugs in our cabinet. The more we have, the more time it takes to organize and pick up, leaving us with cluttered minds, homes, and less of that quality time we all crave to have with ourselves, our families, and our dearest friends. I’m loving this book, and am starting to slowly implement it!

I used to be a terrible current events gal. It was embarrassing. 4 years ago if someone would have asked me my opinion about the presidential candidates it would have been Legally Blonde status… I just never knew what to watch, when to watch it, what to read..there was SO MUCH news and I wasn’t that interested to spend enough time figuring it out anyway. Over the summer I subscribed to a free email service called The Skimm, and became more of an adult instantly. This was the first year that I understood every onstage question at the Miss USA pageant. Astounding. 🙂 Anyway, it’s fabulous, and I love the tongue in cheek humor that they use to deliver the most enticing world news 5 days a week. You get an email in the wee hours of the morning, and can skim all of the latest news in the time it takes you to sip a cup of coffee. You should all subscribe here, I promise, you’ll love it.

If you haven’t heard Adele’s new chart topping single, “Hello”, you need to. ASAP. I’ve been playing it through Apple music for a month or so now as my “go to” jam everytime I have the car to myself, but I recently caught Ben belting out the lyrics. He loves him some musical masterminds, and Adele is just that. He’s been requesting to hear it everytime I play SUV D.J., and I think it’s quite adorable…

The curiously delicate palate of a toddler. Oy. Monday she likes bananas, but Wednesday they are the bane of her existence. She has, however been consistently loving pancakes. I hate the preservative filled boxes at the store, and sometimes I just don’t have the energy to make em’ from scratch, so Kodiak Cakes have been coming in clutch as a “better” option. She loves em’ and they’re the easiest things to make in the entire world. Everyone needs some in their pantry. I buy mine at Target, but you can totally Amazon it too. I like the “power cakes” for extra protein for Ben!

My wee little boy is over the moon about anything with wheels. Honey and I were just talking about how funny it is that little boys just instinctively will choose a toy truck from a bucket of anything and know exactly how to drive it along any given surface. I’ve been in the process of greening up our home and in coordinating with my “tidying” craze of minimalism, I’m into replacing all of the plastic/toxic/low quality toys with good quality, natural material options. I’m really loving these little cars, and will totally be putting them on my list of things to buy my tiny man for Christmas. Or his birthday. They’re pretty much the same thing.
